Trombone plays a magnificent role in the performance of this piece. Who best to illustrate the vital role of trombone (and other members of the horn section) than one trombonist via the use of a Go-Pro camera placed on the end of the instrument. Also apparent are other members of the orchestra.
This Swiss performance featuring trombonist Manuel Nägeli, was posted to youtube in 2013 and has garnered a large number of views in the past year. Appropriately enough, there is a march-like visual experience we take as the work is performed, traveling through the playing of the instrument as the track is carried. It’s also intriguing to watch the expressions on the other performer’s faces during interludes where their instruments are not included.
The focus and attention to detail are impressive.
