Korg SP 170s Digital Piano Review
The Korg SP 170s Digital Piano is a high-quality musical instrument designed to be used by all levels of people from beginners to advanced. It was designed to closely reproduce the sounds that you would expect to hear from a traditional piano. The 88-key keyboard with its uniquely weighted keys produces a sensitivity level that nearly matches many of the best standard pianos on the market.
Today’s digital technology allows the engineers at Korg to design the SP-170s with the ability to reproduce the sounds that are made from several different musical instruments that are all in the same family of musical instruments including; the organ, harpsichord, electric piano, and acoustical piano. All this is accomplished by simply pushing a button on the digital piano.
The melodic sounds are generated by the fully natural weight of the hammer action found in most standard pianos. For those people who prefer a different level of touch sensitivity, the SP 170s have a key touch control that allows the player to select one of three different levels of sensitivity. By changing the weighting of the keys will dramatically alter the sound produced with every touch of the keys.
Along with the typical sound generated from 88-keys, Korg added some special features to the SP-170s. By simply pressing a couple of buttons on the front of the digital piano called Reverb or Chorus, the sound will instantly change for the better. The Reverb button creates an unequaled lush tone and the Chorus button adds a touch of warmth and motion.
The amazing sounds can be heard in one of two ways; through the internal speaker system or headphones. The built-in sound system consists of two quality oval speakers (10 cm x 5 cm). To enhance the sound experience the engineers paid close attention to detail by designing the enclosure to improve the sound resonance and tone so that the music comes from the speakers. For those who prefer listening through headphones to hear what they are playing two standard headphone jacks are easily accessible.
